GUAVA Bean and Little Feat macarons have joined forces to open a new cafe in Melbourne. They’re marking the opening by giving away free macarons until this Friday, and, for one lucky winner, a year’s supply of coffee and macarons.
MELBOURNE coffee veterans Guava Bean have opened a new store this week, with a sweet and chewy little twist.
Teaming up with Melbourne macaron maker Little Feat, they’re bringing two of Melbourne’s favourite treats together at their store in the heart of the CBD (which will from now on, stand for “Coffee and Biscuits District”).
To mark their opening, the new Guava Bean cafe is giving away free macarons until this Friday. Nope, you didn’t read that wrong. Mouth melting sweet bites of cheer, also known as macarons, are being given away in Melbourne for free until November 25!
To get yours, download and print this voucher and take it to the Russell St store before Friday.
“We wanted to create a fun alliance between coffee and macarons. We think they make quite a fun marriage,” jokes Guava Bean managing director Seong-Lee Ang.
Guava Bean Espresso Bar, best known for its bounteous coffee menu, opened its first cafe in Southland in 2004. While the new Russell St store will be Guava Bean’s fifth in Melbourne (there are also Guava Bean cafes on Little Collins St, The Causeway, and in Southbank) its partner, Little Feat, is a newcomer to the macron craze.
“The founder of Littler Feat trained in Paris and fell in love with macarons,” Ang says.
“He spent a year mastering his art and trialling flavours when people said to him, ‘You should turn it into a business,’ and he did. Everyone is going macaron crazy at the moment.”
As well as traditional favourites like salted caramel, Little Feat will also be serving up Tim Tam, blue current, cookies and cream, green tea, Cherry Ripe and espresso flavoured macarons at the new cafe.
It’s still early days, but Ang says Guava Bean and Little Feat’s launch has already caused quite the stir.
“People have been talking about it and spreading the word…at the moment we have queues out the door!”
So far, the store has given away about 700 macarons and Ang says the giveaways are aimed at getting people hooked on having coffee and macarons together.
“We want them to get attached and for them to love it!”
If you can’t get to the Russell St store by Friday, don’t worry. To celebrate their culinary union, Guava Bean and Little Feat are giving you the chance to win a year’s supply of coffee and macarons. All you have to do is like them on Facebook before December 16.
Guava Bean and Little Feat cafe is located at Shop G11, 114 Russell St. It’s open Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Ph 9663 0078.
